Vladimir Stojanovic
Featured Piece:

Smoking Old Man - Vintage Oil on Canvas Portrait Painting by Listed Russian Artist Vladimir Stojanovic (1924 -)  This is a vintage oil on canvas portrait painted by the listed Russian artist Vladimir Stojanovic. The painting is wonderfully detailed and extremely expressive. The canvas measures 10½” wide and 13¾” high, and the frame is 15” wide by 18¼” high. A remarkable feature of this painting is the lit cigarette and the eye glasses that are painted with thicker layers of paint and are textured for a slight 3D type appearance. This painting is a very elaborate and extremely well executed composition.  The back of the painting is written “Stojanovic, Vladimir, Artiste Peintre (artist painter), 11 Passage Moncley Paris 17, which, apparently, was the artist’s address in Paris. The paint has some very fine crackling in some areas due to the age of the work.  Circa 1970.

Everyone has heard of the famous Italian artist from the Renaissance, Leonardo da Vinci. In 2017, the artist’s painting “Salvator Mundi” (The Saviour of the World) was sold by the auction house Christie’s in New York for the incredible sum of 450 million USD. Researchers have described the painting as “the greatest artistic discovery of the 20th century”.

“Interchange”, which was painted by Willem de Kooning, was sold by Sotheby’s for 20 million USD in 1989. The painting then fetched 300 million USD at a private auction in 2015.

“The Card Players” was purchased by the Museum of Qatar for 250 million USD. Paul Cézanne painted this canvas between 1892 and 1893 and it is the third painting in a series. The other 4 paintings in the series are currently at the Musee d’Orsay, Cusco, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Barnes Foundation. The series of works shows us 5 gamblers playing cards, and in each subsequent painting there is one fewer of them at the table, until in the last one there are just two players left.
